Tornado owners.. Post your top speed !

I went 293 km/h.
I think it's good for 110 rwhp, and it needs a long road.
What about the accuracy of the speedometer?

Eh :eek

Did you have wery strong backwind, deep downhill and 5 km long streight road :p

Well, with original sprocets and gearing, the max speed should be about 275 - 280 km/h, 11500 RPM, you know.

Please post whether your bike is stock RS or Tre,

Sprockets, chain size, Current Map and any mods such as exhaust, power commander etc.

Has anyone done 300Kph yet?:b

If your speedo reads 8% high, like mine, your top speed was actually 270 kph. Assuming of course, that your rear tyre hadn't grown due to the speed.

Top speeds

Mines varied a fair bit depending on weather and what kit I wear. With my size and weight running a 6034 map, race can on a 2003 Tre I got 158mph (254km/h) on a local straight road. Kept it pinned for about 2 miles. At the Isle of Man I couldnt get more than about 151mph (243km/h) but that was in the mountains and although the bike was flat out i was constantly turning it slightly and hard strong side winds.

My absolute best I ever got was 164mph (264km/h). I havn't a clue how anyones managed to get more than that unless they weigh and are built like a stick. I was tucked right in, elbows in, knees right in full leathers on a ride out

Top speeds

:hat

As reported some time ago on this forum, I got an indicated 171mph :eek when the bike had not long come back from being ridden hard at Misano.

Allowing for a 10% speedo error would give a true reading of 154mph. I did have a very small amount of throttle left, but run out of safe road. I would expect that 160 +/- 5mph would be the true top speed of the Benelli.

Yeah sure mate but not on the Tre I'm well short. Had 186 on the restrictor on both a R1 and a ZX12R :D

Re: Top speeds record

Sorry just being sarcastic.. >D
Actually i have seen 163mph on the clock on my rs and it still had a bit to go, I think a indicated 170 would be about its lot.
It would be nice if I could try a speed run, but it is stuck at kjm with tech problem..:\

Re: what am i waiting for

Well the latest info is that settings on t.p.s. or steppervalve were wrong, but it still must have run bad, as after they told me this, they told me that they have tried replacing some parts and fault remained ! I dont know what they tried as replacement but assume the ecu and stepper motor. At least they seem to be trying and must recognise the fault in the way it runs ! Obviously you have to ride it to feel it. I know you did Lloyd.
They are at a standstill now as they have contacted the tech man in Italy for advice, but he is on holiday for two weeks !!
There cant be much left that can be wrong,I would guess the throttle valves are not open enough, but it is not me working on it !!
I am getting Cheesed off now !:evil :hat

My Tornado TRE is stock. It was revving around 11,300 RPM but not on the red line(11,500). May be the wind helps but I don't remember any strong wind.
I can easily do 285 km/h, some times more and only one time i went 293km/h.
I don’t know which Sprockets, chain size is has. In top gear and 100km/h it revs at 4000 rpm. I am sure that the Speedo reads more than the actual speed…
Kuwait city is approximately at the sea level, so there will be no power loss like in high altitudes.

No wonder matey. I've tried emailing KJM but there seems to be a problem with the Benelli.co.uk addy as nothing is getting through so I've tried their other email address. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow to see if they've had my email and what progress (if any) has been made on the bike.
Here's hoping:rolleyes

Re: Top speeds record

:hat

Not that bothers me about the Tornado's top speed, but last Sunday on a very fast almost flat road I got an indicated 174mph (Honest!) :smokin (Oh yes, on a private road officer:lol :lol :lol )
That was it max'ed out with me flat on the tank for about 2.5miles, and she's still running sweet!

As I have said on a previous thread, allowing for a 10% speedo error this would give a top speed of about 156mph. as I say though, it really does not bother me about top speed. All I know is that she handles sweet and is fast enough on the road.
