Hi everyone. I have something which is puzzling me. I have tried connecting my Garmin Zumo XT satnav to the auxiliary plug on the left side of the bike so it powers on when ignition is switched on. However, all it does is turn on but does not charge. The power from the plug is 12v and at the satnav mount 5.14v which is all correct. So why does it not charge? I have had to wire it straight to the battery which charges it fine but a hassle trying to remember to switch it off. It's a brand new Garmin, in fact it's a replacement as I sent the original back for the problem mentioned. I tried it in the fog light plug (using it for fog lights) and it shows its charging when switched on so I know the device works ok. Has anyone any suggestions as to why the satnav doesn't charge when plugged into the auxiliary plug? Am I missing something?

I'm not familiar with the TRK's extra farkles yet. Is the aux port a cigarette lighter socket or a USB port?

If it's a USB port, it probably not capable of passing enough current.
If it's a cig lighter... is the adapter a Garmin device? Garmins don't like to be used with anything except their proprietary adapter.

It's one of two auxiliary plugs, one is for fog lights the other which I was hoping to use for the Garmin. They are dedicated two pin plugs wired to the ignition. I'm using Garmins specific cable which reduces the 12v to 5v on the mount so I can't understand why it doesn't work properly. If I plug it into the fog light connector it works, and both connectors have the same power readings.
