Having just replaced the sparkplugs in my Benelli Tornado 900 tre, I cleaned quite a lot of dark blue coloured sealant/grease from arround the top of the suppressor caps which I presume is to prevent moisture from entering the deep tubes in the cylinder head where the sparkplugs are accessed.
Question: Is an off the shelf automotive silicone grease with a max temperature rating of 200 degree C suitable to smear around the top of the suppressor caps, or is there somewhere else more specific that I should be using?
Thanks in anticipation.
Regards
Jon.

It needs to be a non-hardening silicon grease, not a glue. Silicon RTV would just make it difficult to clean up when you remove the coils next time - as you found out.
Don't use petroleum based bearing grease, as it will swell the rubber seals on the coil stick.
