Is there anyone out there who has successfully modified or purchased a pillion seat that is comfortable for a long ride?
The original looks good but isn't!

The pillion is terrible - Great isn't it? It means HID never wants to go on the back and ruin things. Eventually bought her one of these. She can't keep up but it leaves me free to muckabout solo

Oh and sadly, that isn't HID in the picture

I tried fitting some 10mm racing seat foam to the pillion seat

It made it more comfy but holding it on was hard and it just moved around

If I had another seat I would recover it and put some of the racing foam under the cover

I have only had my TNT for about 9 months. Got mrs on back once over summer. She didn't complain about the leg room but she said her ass was burning on the seat. It was just town riding I am hoping that if we do a descent trip to the lake district that the increased air flow will cool her ass.:rolling:

Has anybody elses ladies complained of burning ass syndrome. Mine is prone to moAning and may have been exagerating so I am interested to know

Yes, especially at the lights through the city on a hot day, my son complains.
I've just noticed the reflective foil coming off too.

The Gilera Fuoco 500 is supposed to be a great town trike, does your HID enjoy it?

Is that a similar density to the original or firmer?

The density is very close to the original but on the harder side

On top of the original it was good though

The seat really needs to be wider so there is more support but I like the look of the original so would look for another seat to butcher

The heat resistant foil has been peeling off since I got it - I can quite believe that it gets through to the pillion's *rse (even the more padded ones).


P.S. She loves the Fuoco - Its a bit weird at first but you can throw it about with confidence in the wet

And finally, isn't it nice of Toyota to make Benellis look reliable?

Yes, I agree that thickness by itself may not make the seat more comfortable for a trip.

Did you use silicone sealant to stick the foil back on?
I've got some Bostik sealant but not sure how heat resistant it is?

The Fuoco does look very impressively safe in the Youtube videos!

I'm so glad I own a Benelli and not a Toyota!

Does any TNT owner on the forum also own a Tre-K?
The seat looks comfortable.
Unfortunately, still haven't seen a Tre-K here in Adelaide.
Does anyone know if it can be made to fit?

What's this reflective foil I have no reflective foil. Back of my pillion seat is just black plastic. Where can I get some from? Even if it works a little it would be an improvement.

i used ducting tape self adhesive and reflective, her in doors says her arse is not as hot as it used to be , i agree with her :rolling:

Sorry Pilgrim, but somebody has to say it. If you want a bike with a comfy pillion seat, nice ergonomic seating position and well positioned grab rails. Why did you buy a Sports bike? I have a news flash for you 'ol mate, the pillion seat is an after thought and there for aesthetics, perhaps to give some one a lift around the block or similar. I do have a suggestion for you though. I recommend you buy another bike! And I don't mean get rid of the Nelli. Remembering the correct number of motorcycles to own is, "Just one more". I can personally recommend the BMW R1200RT as an excellent touring machine, not only will she have a comfy seat including nicely stretched out legs but also a heated seat and a top box to lean back on. So there you have it, your excuse; the rock upon which to build your argument. You see it is all for "her", not "you". You kind , thoughtful, generous man you! LOL. Best of luck pal. :clap:

TNT is not for sharing!

I have to agree that a TNT is a one-person bike. Even a short skinny passenger is gonna be unhappy quite quickly. And if you take the passenger pegs off you save half a kilo or so and improve the lines of the bike.

I have a TNT and a Tre-k - the Tre-k is much much more comfortable (better seat, lower pegs, higher bars), only a tiny bit slower, and can be made to handle as well, and you can do 400 miles a day in comfort. Oh, and a bigger tank. The front seat is better, and the whole subframe is longer so there's a proper rear seat, but even then it's not made for two-up touring. If that's what you want, you need to buy the right bike.

My Mrs does not like the TNT as much as the Tornado but the main thing she complains about is the fact that she cannot see as well because the seat is lower than on the Tre and of course the acceleration she finds stronger than on the Tre.I had a one off grab handle made up so that helps.She has never complained about getting a hot bum on it.Most of the TNT riding is on my own to work etc. so i can be a hooligan on it!.

We tried both the trek and tnt on same day and the missus hated the trek seat. said the TnT was much better. I suppose it depends on the shape of the ASS :ele:

She does complain slightly after a long journey say 200 miles but never on shorter journeys. So I tried the racing foam

What is really needed is a totally redesigned seat which is wider that can be fitted for long journeys

If i could get a hold of an old seat i would widen the seat with fibeglass and recover it
