I'm reading this, thinking to myself, we've got an imposter. This ain't Big Al. He's never been serious for more than 5 lines .....
.... would have me hauled up in front of a judge and plonked in a cell for 18 months whilst some 22 stone baldy fella rams his pork sword up my farter :rolling:
:ele: Aah. That's more like it. The world's still turning clockwise.

Errol, read his words last night and had your exact thoughts. The final line*is* def Al and makes the rest of it a puzzle :rolling:

+1 :rolling:

Strange thing is, this is the second semi serious post Al has made in the last week. I am wondering whether he is traumatised from being molested by Emma at Goose's party... Did something happen we don't know about AL? Did she touch you in your "special place"? :rolling:

I use these in my car

All it does is beep when you are in a known speed camera area. I try to keep to 30mph in town but its so easy to wander over so for the 20 quid i paid for it , its been great

I keep meaning to buy the updated bike version which is all hidden except for a light that flashes to warn of camera area's. Its updateble from their website and you can add your own "places of interest

Our main biking area has the A68 which at under 50 miles of road has 21 fixed cameras. It also has mobile cameras as this map shows

http://www.lbsafetycameras.co.uk/index.php/cameras/borders_cameras

The A68 is the most frustrating road in existance as if you are driving a car almost every long stretch has a camera which makes drivers have to overtake in risky places

Stopped by helicopter

Got onto the I8 freeway last sunday. Saw a white CHP (highway patrol) parked next to the on ramp. So I was leading a bunch of four bikes, and cruise down the freeway towards San Diego. This stretch is a 70 mph road. So I'm in the slow lane doing about 75 on my optimistic speedo. Cars are passing (not normal) me in the fast lane, so I know I am not speeding.

A group of six jap sport bikes catch up to us and pass, but get caught up with some slower traffic ahead. They pass and ride off into the distance (maybe 90mph).

I am looking in the mirrors and see a black and white CHP coming up in the fast lane , passes my buddies and pulls in behind me. He stays there for about 30 seconds pulls back into the fast lane with lights flashing and disappears off down the road after these other bikes. Another CHP flys by.
I have slowed to about 60 by now, see 2 black and whites with bikes pulled over, guys with their hands up and the cop drawing his gun.
I ride by - you know I am and was doing the speed limit - so why would they pull me over? Well whilst I was watching what was going on the other cop was trying to flag me down ( so two of my buddies say) I ride on by and so does Bob.

Now the cop is really pissed off, and gets John and Kate to stop. I am now about 2 miles down the freeway and I hear this siren, look around nothing -keep going - hear the siren again look up and see a police helicopter overhead. Now here's me going down the freeway looking up into the sky and wondering what on earth this guy is up to. Could not see the pilot or passenger.(too far up) thinks to my self who are they trying to pull ove, and carry on riding. Siren goes ogff again and he does this arc towards me. Now I know who is trying to pull over.

So I pull over ,Bob follows me, and just then a black and white speeds up and stops behind us. Cop jumps out and shouts get off the bike and take the keys out of the ignition. Give me your registration and license. Officer you have got the wrong guys we were not speeding I tell him, and explain the story about the past events. Well the helicopter says you were speeding 90 mph. Bob is now getting agro and pushing his luck with the cop. Another black and white speeds up and stops. The two cops have a little meeting whilst Bob and I stay in the front of the cop cars. Time is now going on so I approach the cops and again explain what has happened. He tells me his sergeant will sort it out when he gets there. Bob is mad and I am starting to worry that they were going to cuff us as he was really going off at them.

After a few more minutes John and Kate arrive and tell the cops that the other cops behind said they must release us as we were not part of the group. So all ended well except I went home at 60 mph and now have been stopped by a police helicopter.

We found out that they had 9 black and whites with the helicopter that they were catching speedsters with.

Bloody Hell Mate, thats Cack ! I can't believe they actually stopped you with a Helicopter, how Dangerous is that !

That's the only trouble with Helicopters, thay can sneak around over a mile up in the sky and still read your number plate and check your speed, from what I've been told, they have a Big Bike meet in North Wales tomorrow and I reckon they'll be using Sky choppers to catch people out !

Very Devious in my eyes !

glad you got sorted though, the worst for you over there though is the fact cops wear guns and don't seem to be afraid to show it !

:(

I was down South last week and a lot of the wife's family are bikers. I was amazed at how many of them have recently or are seriously considering giving up their bikes as they just don't see the fun in it now there are so many speed cameras etc down there.

I think that's why my father in law enjoyed Rogart so much as it reminded him of how biking used to be travelling hundreds of miles with no cameras.
One massive advantage of being so underpopulated up here!

150mph in a 50...I know he's your mate that's just plain bloody daft.

Yep you are not wrong. Its not just the speed cameras.. they have ruined all the decent roads with 50 limits (which of course then means they can put cameras / vans down them!). I now have to ride for 30 mins just to get anywhere with a reasonable amount of national speed limit roads. I would never give up the bike, but its certainly made the quick evening runs I used to do a lot less appealing.

Another one bites the dust :bawl:
Fortunately mine is for 37 in the 30 ....could've been much worse

A warning for others is that this camera was on a junction on A6 in Stockport near turn off for M60. Junction cameras normally only trigger on breach of red light, but this was a 'new breed' which also has xs speed capability. Saw the camera in plenty time, but looking for turn off + didn't see lines on road till too late :( now if I'd howled the front tyre.... :rolling:
My course offer arrived.
Some interesting info if it ever applies to anyone out there. Only 1 course per 3 years, and they do have a national database so you can't do courses in different counties within that period. You can do the course outside of the offence area (not all counties do this??).

I've opted to take mine in Flint, North Wales. Lot closer than Manchester (plus parking issues etc), could have done one on Wirral near home, but Merseyside do a 6-hour course split between classroom and driving but charge you ÂŁ88 for the pleasure. I thought it would be just too much patronising. Have to wait now till December, ooo I can't wait!

Wow, I guess we're lucky in California - you can take a course after 18 months. So basically if you get one ticket every 18 months you can keep your record clean by going to traffic school after each one.

It's Bad

I got prosecuted in January 93 in a 60, since then I have hardly ridden in the UK and when I speed now it is either on the track or abroad.

I hate to say it but roads that I love, like the A515, A6, A507 have become a nightmare.

On Radar guns, they can read a bike, but they take longer to get zeroed in as a bike has less mass.
I Know as I was caught 500m from my house doing 37 in a 30 going downhill on my old bemmer on an A road. Lucky for me it was a policeman that stopped me who after bollocking me, thought it was quite funny as I could almost point out my house to him. I made no excuse, just aplogised.

Riding or driving fast for me is now something I tend not to do unless I know with a real high degree of certainty that it is a clear (of enforcement) road.
I even have in my car a bleeper (it came with the car) that goes off at 80. Having said that I was overtaken on the motorway doing approx 70 to 75 through non speed controlled road works and you should have seen the dirty look the copper gave me.

This country is beginning to feel like a puritan police state, but strangly it is not the police that are the problem, but the attitude of the buricrates !!!

Rant Over - I will now go and put a new rad on the Nelli and go for a sedate blast !!
