Hi

I have a 2011 Benelli 49x which I have had for over 12 months now and have done quite a bit of tidying up on it as wasn't in the best condition when I bought it....I know it is only a 50cc but I like it.

Hope I have posted in the right place.

Carb issue?

Help please. When I now go to start the bike fuel pours out from drain pipe under the scooter and it rides really lumpy/hesitant and really down on power....any suggestions on how to rectify would be most welcome...I suspect carb needs a clean...anything else I should be checking?

Nice scooter! I've purchased mine two weeks ago new. I'm facing a problem with mine that even in the dealership they don't know how to solve it.
When the engine is hot and I stop and after ten minutes or so I wanna restart it and the scooter refuses to start. I need to give it a bit of throttle to start it.
Do you know what it could be?
Your problem could be solved by tightning the screw close to the drain hose. Could be as simple as that.
Cheers

Is your's brand new. Perhaps with the heat from the engine the fuel is evaporating in the fuel pipe and needs a good twist of the throttle to get more fuel flowing??

Does it always start fine from cold?

Thanks for the tip on the screw close to the drain hole I will have a look at that. Took the air filter out today and smelt very strong of fuel so that will need replacing. Scooter is SORN at the moment so am actually going to take off the bodywork and have a good clean of the frame and check for rust etc and clean up and repaint if needed. At same time will have a good look at the carb as not looking in the best condition. Suspect if may be a case of the more I peal back the more I want to clean/repair/replace.

Any pictures of your bike?

I have managed to find on the web, workshop manuals and parts lists etc for the 49x so if you need a copy of any of them let me know and I will get copies to you, they are PDF's.

It's my wife's scooter. I have PCX 125 so carburetor and 2 stroke it's new for me. Yes it's brand new.
I don't know if the needle play anything during idle. I think not but... I raised it one notch.
When cold it usualy start's fine but I was messing with the mixture and idle screw and a few moments ago I tried to start it but it refused.
I have to play a litle more with it.
In the morning the scooter was in the dealership to change the main jet to smaller one and I don't know if it was that or the adjust they made but it felt better when pulling full throttle. Seemed a lot faster. But know with the needle raised seemed worst. I don't know...
By the way how many turns do you have in yours or do you know the factory setting for the mix screw?
When we purchased the scooter it only was hard to start when warm and after some minutes stoped. If we switch off the scooter and start imediatly it starts fine.

Some photos

Cheers

Thanks. If it was for me I will like to have like your's.
Here in Portugal I'm sure that we are the only ones or at least few with this scooter. It is due also for the new law that everyone with car license and at least 25 years old can drive scooters up to 15hp or 11kw.
It was the "boom" for 125cc! It´s cheaper in gas. To park is a lot better since in the capital Lisbon every park lot is paid. That is the reason I bought my PCX.
Imagine working 8 hours and paying park! Impossible....
