Hello Jeroen,
so finally, after some busy weeks (business trip, house building, etc.) some rest...
The good news is: I got the clutch. I lamented for some days (because I did not want to spend yet again 45€ after my silly fault) but my father persuaded me to buy it. This is from the same slashed bike where the gears and the lower cooler radiator are from. It had admittedly only 14000 kms before it got sold in parts, so every bits of it are in good condition. It also came from a reliable bike dealer so it is not stolen or such things. He even sent me the complete rear variator, so I did not need to remove the big 55mm nut, which I did not have the appropriate tool for.
Now this is the second day I commuted to work on the bike and the runs very well (the "new" rear variator is in good condition as I mentioned, but the front variator, the rollers and the belt are a bit worn after 40000 kms).
We have a heat wave here (over 30 degrees daytime and 23 degrees in the night), so I was curious how the bike will perform after those "interventions": new head gasket, pretty second-head flywheel cover gasket, new water pump shaft and stem seal. I also "restructured" the radiator fans: you may remember, that I have an original (smaller) fan and a bigger one from the same type. The bigger one is certainly better but it tended to stuck so I used the original, smaller fan on the big radiator. Now I fixed the big fan to the big radiator and the small one onto the smaller radiator thus it is placed in reversed direction under the bike (of course I also reverted the contacts in its cable so it rotates "backwards" and blows the air instead of sucking it).
It was not a big issue at all: I just fixed the radiators with cable ties and the whole process took less than 20 minutes.
The first day the temperature gauge creeped into the red range, but after I topped the coolant in the reservoir today it always remained below the red mark. Standind at red lights I heard the cooling fans working intensively, though

I also replaced the variator rollers but I could only select from another used set, simply collected the ones which were still in good condition. Now it accelerates much better I am really happy with it.
But my battery is seemingly dead (it was still the battery which the previous owner bought the bike with, so no surprise) after I left it drown. Fortunately I have a similar battery from my other bike (which is currently put to rest), so no problem at the moment.
How about you? And about your father? (if it is public)
Are you preparing for the Italian trip or internship?
The local dealer will pick it up later this week (i guess wednesday) and they will search for a defect
Maybe it's just the battery, maybe it's more.
I would not expect it. This bike is really simple and robust, it must work, I believe and cross my fingers.
I
f they cant find anything i give it one last shot.
And otherwise you can buy a very well maintained, non starting, Dusk 400 from me hahaha!
On one hand I would do it of course, but on the other hand I rather wish you to use it (nevertheless I do not have the resources to buy it

)
I will keep you up to date.
Thanks and wish you all the best!
Regards,
Mark
