Glad your ok thats the main thing...........are you saying the gearbox has siezed? there a cassete type so it wont take very long to remove and examine by the dealer...keep us posted this is a new one for me:(

If you look at my old posts you will see that I had a new Honda that had major gearbox problems and Honda would not fix it, whilst it’s upsetting that your gearbox let go at least Benelli are sorting it out ASAP unlike Honda.
One thing how much swarf/ metal fragments were left in the sump…..only the oil for the gearbox also feeds everything else in the engine (big ends, pistons, cams, clutch etc) so make sure they put in writing that the whole engine has been checked for contamination from the damage and has passed inspection.

The only part that swarf/fragments can damage, is the oil pump. From there, the next stop is the oil filter. Providing the filter isn't bypassing ('cos it's fully loaded with rubbish), the rest of the engine should be fine. Check the pump though!
(that's my two bits)
cheers

Spot on Errol that's the problem ..........blocked or damaged oil pump could mean lack of oil to all those other places I mentioned, can never be to sure.
When I was racing strokers many many etc years ago I remember blowing up an engine (top ring took the top of the piston off as it seized) what a mess! I spent days rebuilding ready for the following meeting and cleaned everything over and over again the engine was cleaner inside than an operating theatre.....put it back in the frame bolted on the exhaust pipe and fired her up..... bang!! it came to a grinding hault what had I done????
well when I stripped it down again I found fragments of old piston and rings jammed between the new piston and bore......after alot of head scratching I realised the only thing I hadn't cleaned was the bloody exhaust pipe....... as I fired it up it had sucked bits back from the exhaust straight into the engine.
I was only 18 at the time struggling to find money to race what a lesson.
