I also recorded with my phone and have the sounds on my comp How do I get link to here Do I have to upload to a site ? any advice ?
I put the mp3 on my website, then linked to it from here.
One reason I made mine longer, was to get the end behind me, to reduce what I heard. Don't know if it made any difference.
Yours does look great though. WAY better than the original log. Almost as good as mine :D

Here's what it sounds like

Sound from a voice recorder, so the quality's not HiFi, (bandwidth is 260 - 6800 Hz) but you'll get the idea.
At about 20 secs, I throttled it back to around 100 kph - cruise. I cut about 10 secs of the cruise out, 'cos it was boring. The last bit is back down the box to negotiate a slipway at a set of lights. You may be able to hear it cackle as it passes through 5 -> 4000 rpm.
Here 'tis.

First 66 km

Hard yakka for Nell. I showed no mercy, accelerating in 6th from 60 to 160+, WOT, a dozen or more times, then Black Mountain 3 times.

She's changed. Now pulls from 3,000 rpm in 6th without hesitation. Tried it from 2,500, but that was being a little cruel.

Amazingly, she managed Black Mountain in 6th. That's a 200 metre climb in 2km, with something like 12% grades in a couple of places, and a 35km posted corner near the top.

So the new exhaust (combined with the Motty AT) has gotten rid of the flat spot just below 4,000. It's also added some amusing cackling as it decelerates through 5,000 to 4,000. I'd love to see if it's belching flames. It certainly sounds like it.

I rode without earplugs - something I rarely do - and, while it's louder than the original, it's more than bearable. In fact it's an absolute pleasure.

One other plus - can't hear the engine rattling at idle anymore :D

Looks pretty sweet Errol.....................but what's that strange carbon looking thing you've got fitted to the pillion seat?
Beats me but it would make a great luggage rack :D
Got it in one Laurence.
I wondered if anyone would notice it.
It's the first attempt that didn't come out of the mold straight. It's just sitting there, but I reckon it looks the goods.

p.s. Can I come and live in your country please, -1C forcast for tomorrow :bawl:
(Still it could be worse............. I suppose  )
Yeah, you could live in Adelaide, where it's been over 40C for the last week. (Adelaide forecast) That's road melting territory. They get a cool change next Saturday, when the forecast is a paltry 30C.

Here it is folks - from the side

From behind (what a lovely arse)

See how it kicks out? I think that it should end up at right angles to the bike to look best.

Still pretty good though :)
Did I mention the awesome sound?

I reckon any future one's should be modified slightly - to turn the rear bit so that looking down from above, it exits at 90 degrees to the fore-aft line of the bike. At present it looks like :-

It should look like :-

If you get my drift.

It should still have the same angle when looking from the side though - to match up with the tail / fan moulding.

Fired Nell up for the first time this morning. No mucking around, sprung straight into life. Lots of blue smoke - I was a bit liberal with the oil can - but that cleared after a short while.

The sound. Holy Moley.
I'll post a recording as soon as I can organise it.

Now I need a nice cool morning and a big hill - to bed in the new rings.
Might be a while. 37C today, 38 tomorrow. Could be worse though. Adelaide was 42 today, with nothing below 35 for at least a week.

 And one of my favourite playgrounds - the Strezlecki Ranges, Vic. - is burning :bawl:

It's fitted!

I've got Robby Moto rearsets fitted, and the bracket on the can was set up for the standard rearsets, so it was never going to fit.
I added a brace from the top rearset mounting bolt to the can bracket. Worked a charm.

Once on the bike, it sticks out the side more than I had in mind, otherwise, it looks the goods.
Haven't started it up yet. Still in the process of re-installing the engine after having the valves ground.

I'll post more pix once Nell's fully clothed :), and try to record the sound it makes.

One other thing, the spring loop is 8 mm too far forward, which meant I couldn't re-use the Arrow springs. If anyone's going to get one made, make sure it is mounted a little further back.

Hi Errol:bow: , Just wondered if any news on your Moto GP style exhaust yet ?
:D
It arrived a week ago.
Not brushed like I asked, but I'll leave it polished for now.
It weighs 3.0 kg (the Arrow is 5.4 kg)
Just waiting for Nell's head & barrel to be returned, and the associated parts to arrive from Alex at Maniac. With luck, both packages are imminent.
Can't wait to see and hear it in action. I'll let you know when she's all back together. Maybe record some sound for ya.

Angus created an impression with Lee ... I sent Lee an email, and this was his reply ....

well what a nice guy he (Angus) was , it was a pleasure to meet him and nothing was to much trouble for him and he could not have been more helpful.
I will be posting it out to you next week early poss monday or tuesday it sounds fantastic and looks even better
regards lee

Thanks again Angus. You're a legend.

so what exactly is it and its function? Because i cant get my nelli dynoed here in west oz I'm leaning more to the remus and rusty's map. does the powercone offer added back pressure to negate different mapping?
Kind of. The power cone adjusts the back pressure with rpm, which means you don't have to re-map (so I'm told). I'm assuming that it keeps the back pressure the same over a broader rev range, and that then makes the power range wider.

If you want to re-map, you don't need to dyno the bike - just install a lambda sensor and start taking real-world data. Or better yet, install an AFR Tuner, and it does the job automatically.

(If you want to dyno, my brother is working on a dyno that uses a hydraulic pump as the load for his race car engine. It should be cheap, and will probably translate to the Tornado quite well.)

A note i pointed out to lee later in the day was this mounting point for yours is using the original hanger plate and riders footrest and if aftermarket rear sets are used they will have to finalise maybe a slight difference ....
Hadn't thought of that - I've got RobbyMotto rearsets on Nell .. ....
I'll sort something out.

I have to say i wasnt that enthusiastic about this can on the benelli, but looking at the finished article, fitted, and the way it suits the wheel arch-it does look quite nice.
Well done Errol, really nice piece of design :)
I've got to acknowledge Harry's input into the design. He suggested the fit to wheel curve, and the angle of the end piece to line up with the fan body.
