Daimo.

You can get rubberised bubbly sheets for about ÂŁ5 which you drape over your seat, tailpiece, tank, whatever, before you put your luggage on. You can cut them to shape, if you wish. I used them on the Highland trip, under my tailpack and tankbag, and there was not a mark to show, over 800 miles. Recommended.

(not the Ian you asked the question to!;) )

I quite agree, Ian! That looks a good set-up there. I have throw-overs, and a tailpack, but have only used the tailpack on the Tornado.
The advantage of a tank bag is that you can have stuff more readily accessible; phone, camera, glasses, sunglasses, cash for tolls, paperwork etc, and keep your map and itinerary in the clear plastic window on top, which I find hugely useful.

Yep and anyway if you have an LE the throwovers are not so easy. Bob managed it but I would always be worrying about a cracked subframe. Saying that, I have a spare one so fukit :rolling:

Daimo,
will take a look at the maker etc of the throw-overs tonight.
Not sure i can confirm where they were bought from though, just recall that they were in one of the flyers inside mcn, (ie busters, m&p, maybe mps?) and not expensive .

I have the quick lock fixings on my bikes which then allows me to alternate the bags on the bikes depending how much i am carrying.Even the 22 litre one will just about fit the Tre.Maybe i had better take some pics.

Ian, if you look in my gallery all 3 different bags are featured. The 22 litre one on the Triumph fits even on the Tre but where it droops down onto the top of the tank i usually put something for it to rest on.On the Triumph i have stuck some clear fablon onto the top of the tank.:)

I had a look on your gallery, Zebo, but promptly forgot what I went on there to look at... I remembered after a while, though; the tank bags, wasn't it? They look very good, but I still prefer the Baglux system, not least because I already have a bag, but I also like the idea of the tank cover giving some protection to the tank.

Anyway, I must go now, I need a lie down.....

Bad news I'm afraid - took the bike to PP today and they wont do it. They said with the shape of the tank the man hours involved in getting it right would mean it would be prohibitively expensive and they would probably turn it down even if we said we wanted 200! On the plus side I have a good price for my seat
Silly question, but I assume someone has approached baglux and they arent interested?

Yes, I did indeed ask Baglux, and they said they would NEVER be making a cover for the Tornado! They didn't really say why, although the inference was to do with low volume, but maybe the tank shape didn't help....!

Thanks for trying your guy Colin, and I'm glad they are sorting your seat out.

Come back, LICS, all is forgiven:rolling:

Cheers
